Unbabel, the Portuguese startup that combines artificial intelligence with human post-editing to automatic translation, is one of the organizations chosen in the North American magazine ranking Fast Company. The startup led by Vasco Pedro, came in third place in the “Enterprise” category, which rewards solutions for companies to improve operations.

The list composed by Fast Company aggregates 434 companies from 39 countries that were considered the most innovative in 2020. In a statement, Vasco Pedro says that “being among the winners of 2020” is a “validation” of the company's mission, that of wanting “ provide customer-centric support in any language ”.

At a time of increasing global volatility, this year's list demonstrates the resilience and optimism of companies around the world. These companies are using creativity to solve the challenges not only of their industries, but beyond, ”says Amy Farley, editor of Fast Company.

Unbabel was created in 2013 also by the current executive president of the company, Vasco Pedro. In January 2018, it raised 23 million euros from some of the world's top investors. In September 2019, it closed another round of 60 million euros. At the end of the same year, it was distinguished as the largest scaleup (startups that are already in a phase of faster growth and expansion), in the ranking made by the startup accelerator BGI in collaboration with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Digital) .

With offices in Lisbon, San Francisco, New York and Pittsburgh, the startup has more than 260 employees and its clients include brands such as Facebook, Microsoft, Booking.com or easyJet.
