The automotive market grew 5.0% in February compared to the same month of 2019, having registered 23,038 vehicles by the legal representatives of the brand operating in Portugal, the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) announced this Monday.
Even so, since the beginning of the year 40,542 new vehicles have been put into circulation, which represents 1.3% less than the same period of 2019, the ACAP said in a statement.
The passenger car market increased 7.4% in the second month of 2020, with 20,263 vehicles registered, registering a year-on-year increase of 0.4%, to 34,686 units. The light goods market registered an “unfavorable evolution” in February, decreasing 5.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, with 2,484 units registered.
In cumulative terms, in the first two months of the year the market in this segment reached 5,079 units, which represented an 8.3% decrease compared to the same period of the previous year.
As for the heavy vehicle market (which includes types of passengers and goods), in February it fell by 37.4% in relation to the same month of the previous year, with 291 vehicles of this category being sold.
Since the beginning of the year, truck registrations totaled 777 units, which also represented a year-on-year decrease of 21.6%.
