When the presentation of Tesla Cybertruck went to the mouths of the world, due to the failure to demonstrate the unbreakable glass of the pick-up, BMW took advantage of the embarrassment of the American brand of electric vehicles to recall that it sells an armored vehicle "seriously".
BMW shows armored car and enjoys Tesla
At first glance, the model in question looks like a normal X5, but in reality it has undergone a series of modifications in order to be able to honor the denomination X5 Protection VR6, with the “VR6” referring to the level of armor that ensures protection extra occupants in the most adverse situations. Now, the Bavarian manufacturer is back in charge with a promotional video of the attributes of his SUV prepared to deal with the most different threats.
The BMW X5 Protection VR6 handles bullets from an AK-47, the well-known Kalashnikov, without any problems and also manages to protect the four occupants it accommodates on board a 15 kg explosion of trinitrotoluene (TNT) from four meters away. As if that were not enough, the SUV offers some options that allow it to resist the impact of a grenade or an aerial attack by drone, namely the detonation of 200g of C4.

Without ever specifying the extra weight of this X5 capable of facing almost war scenarios, BMW says that not only has the body structure been reinforced, but the windows are bulletproof. Although, in the video, there is no image of the projectile's post-impact splinter. But there is the guarantee that, if necessary, the X5 can become a kind of safe deposit box at the press of a button, which locks the vehicle, closes the windows and triggers an alarm.
If the aim is to escape, the most powerful argument in favor of the armored SUV is found under the hood. The X5 Protection VR6 has a 4.4-liter V8, delivering 523 hp of power and 750 Nm of torque, which allows it to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds, and then reach the top speed of 210 km / h.
