More than 60 companies sign a manifesto for a new development paradigm ...

More than 60 companies signed the manifesto “take advantage of the crisis to launch a new sustainable development paradigm”, promoted by BCSD Portugal, according to a statement released this Thursday.

Among the 64 signatories to the manifesto promoted by the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD), are more than half of the PSI20 companies that argue that the solution to the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic also involves promoting a transformation of the development model .

Because crises are unique opportunities to rethink our future, BCSD Portugal and its associates believe that this is the time to lay new foundations for more inclusive, sustainable growth and, in general, to build a new model of sharing of value with society and future generations, ”João Wengorovius Meneses, secretary-general of BCSD Portugal, said in a statement.

The 64 signatory companies intend to contribute to the construction of a development model based on five principles: promoting sustainable and inclusive development, promoting growth, seeking efficiency, strengthening resilience and strengthening corporate citizenship.

Among the companies that sign the manifesto are Altri, Brisa, Cimpor, CTT, EDP, Efacec, Galp, Jerónimo Martins, NOS, PT Portugal, REN, Sonae and Navigator.

BCSD Portugal is an association that brings together about 100 Portuguese companies.
